Software: Identify where the cells within your gate fall in the all events plot, using the "Back Gate"

December 13th, 2019

Back gating helps to identify where the cells within your gate fall, within the all events plot. Back gating helps confirm your gating strategy, particularly for forward scatter vs. side scatter.

Uncovering the Secrets of Cellular Motility: The Impact of Actin Nt-Acetylation on the Cytoskeleton

December 9th, 2019

Cellular motility in animals is a dynamic process, dependent on the interactions of microfilaments (e.g. actin and myosin), intermediate filaments (e.g. keratin), and microtubules. Working together in concert, these cytoskeletal structures engage in cellular activities such as cellular migration, transportation of vesicles, and gene transcription to name a few. In particular, the actin protein is a busy player; shuffling states between polymerization at the leading edge of cells to help pull them forward, and depolymerization at the trailing edge, pushing them from behind.

CRISPR: uncovering clues with off-target therapeutic implications

November 7th, 2019

Exploiting bacterial defense mechanisms has led to the development of CRISPR technology for gene editing and identification. CRISPR has become a popular research tool in the fight against cancer, neurological disease, heart failure, and other rare conditions in desperate need of new therapeutic options. With new technology, however, comes new questions: one being how to best to monitor possible off-target effects that might arise from experimental manipulations and determine the factors that contribute? This is not an easy question to answer.

Software: Automatically identify populations of interest with 'Smart Gate'

October 29th, 2019

Gates used during flow cytometry data analysis aren’t 100% accurate even with a template. The integrated ForeCyt® Software on the iQue3 advanced flow cytometry platform addresses this issue with “Smart gate”, which automatically identifies the population of interest by centering itself on the closest dense area on the graph.

Immune Cell Killing, Multi-Spheroids

August 6th, 2019

It is captivating to observe how Herceptin alone, or peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) alone, have little or no effect on multi-spheroid size or viability (fluorescence intensity) of SKOV-3 multi-spheroid proliferations.
